Have booked train Budapest to Prague 25/6/15 EC 170 carriage 262 – seats
25 & 26. Could you please tell me if these seats are in an open compartment
and if the seats are just 2 together and forward or is this in a small enclosed
compartment (which we didn't want)?

Hello, the carriage is not the open space type. The 1st class car (262) has
cabins with 6 seats in each. Kind regards Pavla

Yes it looked like that on the picture. How come we have been allocated
2 seats in a cabin like that when there is a carriage with open seats: carriage
263 and how can I change the seats? We do not want to sit together with
4 people in a small cabin we don't know for 7 hours. Isn't there a way to
change them? You don't know this till you get the ticket printed in the end of
the booking. I chose „seats“ in the booking process.

Hello, the 262 carriage belongs to the Czech railways – we are their
partner. We cannot give you a seat in the other carriage. Those tickets belong
to Hungarian railways. Kind regards Pavla

I don't understand. I bought the ticket on the MAV Hungarian website. Why
would their system not have allocated me ticket in the Hungarian carriage? To
solve this situation, could I maybe now be able to go to the ticket office at
the time and purchase another 2 seats in the other carriage?

Hello again, I did not checked our system. I supposed that if you write us
you are our customer. You have to solve it with MAV then. Kind
regards Pavla
