I had the same query about Visas. I am an Australian citizen but I just
spoke to somebody who said they had done the train from Budapest to Prague and
it passes briefly through one country ( Not sure which one) that is not part of
the Schengen zone and they were asked by officials on the train to see
their Visa.

Hello. Thank you for contacting us. The train goes through 3 countries
– Hungary, Slovakia, Czechia. All Schengen zone. If you get in the Schengen
zone, you do not need any additional visa for this train.
Kind regards Pavla

Dear customer, once you get into Schengen zone, you do not need visas for
travelling inside it. In this case, all the countries – Budapest, Slovakia
and the Czech Republic are part of the zone. Kind regards Pavla
