Prague to Salzburg - Transport from Prague to Salzburg

Hi,My husband and me need to get from Prague to Salzburg on the 21st of April.We wanted to know whether its better to take a train or go by road. Which would be quicker and how much would it cost. So can you please advise us on which would be more advisable.Thanks Anuja

As for the train, there is no direct train anymore. The quickest connection is taking the R 201 Anton Bruckner from Prague (07:16) to Linz and switching to OIC 548. This takes 6h33min. The ticket costs 55 EUR per person for 2nd class.

The private car is of course more expensive, the total travel time would be around 5hours (there is no highway) – but it's hotel to hotel service. At the moment we have a special rate: 6350 CZK (approx. 262 EUR) per car. The distance is almost 400 km. But it could be made as a trip with a stop in Český Krumlov (which is worth to see). With a 3-hour stop in Krumlov such trip would cost 8800 CZK.
