Smetana‘s Litomyšl International Opera Festival 2014

One of the oldest music festivals and the largest open-air classical music festival in the Czech Republic.

International Opera Festival takes place in Litomyšl, the birthplace of the founder of Czech national music Bedřich Smetana. The programme includes not only opera performances, gala concerts, oratorios and cantatas, but also ballet and church and promenade concerts. The performances are mainly held in the acoustically perfect second courtyard of the Litomyšl Castle, and also in the audience hall, chateau theatre and chapel, or in cathedrals in Litomyšl and Smetana’s house.

Even you can visit one of the gala concerts of Smetana’s Litomyšl and listen to the beautiful tones in the fairytale surroundings of the chateau grounds, which are entered into the list of world cultural heritage UNESCO.
