It is a travel document that allows you to travel on European trains in certain areas (countries) for a number of days. It is a substitute for a train ticket. Still, for certain trains you need to buy a seat or bed reservation.
YES, if you plan to travel around Europe or a certain country e.g. for a month. Or if you plan to move frequently. Or use night trains to save money on accommodation in hotels.
NO, if you plan to visit 3 or 4 cities in Europe. If you want to save money, we recommend to buy e-tickets (we offer them for some trips) and to consider travelling by bus. For shorter trips (between the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria and Slovakia) the buses are as quick as trains and far less expensive.
An Interrail pass can only be used by European citizens. Non-European citizens can use a Eurail pass instead.
Residents or citizens from countries inside the European Union and the countries listed below can travel with an Interrail Pass: Albania, Andorra, Belarus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, FYR Macedonia, Gibraltar, Iceland, Kosovo, Liechtenstein, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Norway, Russian Federation, San Marino, Serbia, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and Vatican City.
You may not use an Interrail pass for travel in your country of residence.
- What can be used as proof of citizenship? A valid passport or an ID card (ID document that allows traveling across borders).

There are usually larger and more comfortable seats, and more legroom, bigger luggage space in 1st class cars. 1st class wagons are less crowded than 2nd class.
The passes are valid on trains operated by the national railways and some private railways, also for certain buses operated by DB. For some of the high-speed day trains and all night trains, you need to have a seat or bed reservation.
(Global pass is better if you travel in 3 and more countries)
(Flexible validity is better if you want to stay in each destination a few days, rather than travel almost daily. You should make a rough itinerary in order to decide.)
You can order Interrail passes up to 3 months before your travel date.
We accept payments by a credit card (3D security payment system). We can also send you an invoice for bank transfer.
We do not sell the electronic form of the passes. They have to be sent to your address. Delivery fee is 20–40 €. The amount is visible in the shopping cart.
Change is possible 3 days before the travel date at the latest.
YES. Unused passes returned to us 3 days before the start of validity at latest will be cancelled and refunded. The refund is 85% of the price.
